Nerve wedging

It often occurs, in everyday activities, that we make some disproportional or unnatural movement that results in nerve wedging. If, in that moment, you feel numbness, stiffness or pinching in your arm, one of the cartilaginous plates in the cervical spine has probably shifted and caused nerve wedging.

Almost 70% of nerve wedging is the result of bad posture. Other 30% is the consequence of direct injuries of the cervical spine. Orthopaedists, physiatrists and physical therapists in nerve wedging cases advise everyday regular practice of the recommended exercises for the unlimbering of the cervical spine and strengthening of the neck muscles, which prevent shifting of the cartilaginous plates. In walking good posture prevents nerve wedging.
